Floating Shapes - magnetic brooch
Three sterling and fine silver shapes have been riveted to the steel base with copper wire. The brooch is held up on the back via a neodymium magnet. Dimensions: 1.5" x.75" x 3/32" (40mm x 20mm x 2mm).
This piece is part of a collection of magnetic brooches, inspired by Kim’s current interest in using materials that she has found in her studio parking lot; left over scraps of steel, silver and gold from previous work; loose beads; materials that intrigue her such as mica. Kim has given these ‘scraps’ a second life by bringing them together to create a new thing in the form of a brooch. Each brooch is like a mini sculpture or low relief painting. The piece can be worn in multiple ways.
Please note the brooch is attached to the clothing by using the neodymium magnet that is provided (see image). The magnet is not to be used by people who wear pacemakers. Please visit https://www.kjmagnetics.com/neodymium-magnet-safety.asp to learn more about the magnets and to how to exercise caution when using. Please keep away from small children. Safety information will be provided with the brooch.
