Steel, Rubber & Fiber Jewelry

My interest in alternative materials began at university, as we were encouraged to experiment. The seeds were planted then and along with the influence of the American art minimalist movement in the 70s and 80s; a collection of jewelry was born using ‘industrial’ materials. Paired with silver, steel, rubber and fiber are elevated from the ordinary to the extra ordinary. The work began in 2008 and continues to the present. Unless otherwise indicated, all photography is by Kim Harrell.
